Top 10 Crazy Shoes for Spring

What fashion lover doesn’t love shoes? I’ve compiled the strangest shoes in fashion today that even the biggest fashionista may or may not love. These shoes are innovative, funny, and some are even disturbing. Be prepared, any preconceived notions you have about shoes are about to change!

1. The Mojito is one of the weirdest shoes you’ll ever see.  The shoe was designed by British architect Julian Hakes and is made of carbon fiber for strength and elasticity along with a rubber bottom and leather. You can tell it was designed by a architect and not a shoe designer because it doesn’t appear that it can even stay on your foot for more than a step and even if it did, it looks very uncomfortable.

2. Hidden Platform shoes from Celine (Spring/Summer 2009)

The shoes look like cut-out platforms or on the other hand like killer heels connected with soles. Pretty surprising and confusing – especially for men. Forget cleavage-revealing blouses, they will only look at your feet from now on. Just make sure not to roll over at the moment X.

3. Python Shoes by Alexander McQueen  (Summer/Spring 2010)

Dubbed the "armadillos”, these python numbers dwarf even the most towering stilettos. How those McQueen models made it down the runway on 12 inches heels? Respect is due.

Chain link shoes

4. Chain Link Shoes

The rocker look might be in right now with fashionistas that follow the trends, but these chain link shoes might just be going a little bit to the extreme. These shoes which boast a unique design won the 2009 Shoemania Design Competition, and while they're not actually wearable in this concept, perhaps they will inspire a design that is; maybe the same chain design within a clear plastic platform

5. The Pant Shoes or Shoe Pants?

It’s hard to tell whether these are shoes, pants or a little of both. While the sneaker design may be comfortable and practical off the runways; you certainly better plan ahead when nature calls.

6. Cardboard Shoes for Puma

Artist Mike Leavitt is featuring a cardboard shoe show in NYC on April 18, 2009. The shoe designs, at a glance, don’t look so unusual since the follow sneaker designs of popular shoe manufacturers. It’s the material that makes them different. While it might be a great idea for a sustainable fashion statement, these shoes would hit the recycling box after an encounter with Shanghai weather.

7. Five Fingers Shoes by Vibram

This might not be the prettiest shoes, but believe me they are extremely comfortable. You basically don't feel them. It's like walking/running (or whatever you do in shoes) barefoot.

8. The Center Heel Corkscrew Shoes

This strange shoe features a heel that’s not quite where we’re used to seeing it. If that’s not enough, a second strange element was incorporated into the fashion shoe’s design; a corkscrew heel. While this shoe at least serves one fundamental purpose of a shoe; covering your foot, it’s missing another key element. Fashion lovers willing to risk wearing this design better be professional acrobats, because walking cannot be an easy feat.

9. High Chair Shoes

Designed to look like a modern high-chair, the high-chair heels take your feet 6 inches off the ground so they sit almost vertical. This innovative design makes a bold fashion statement that is perhaps better seen in home décor, because it’s a fashion accident waiting to happen. While this shoe at least serves one fundamental purpose of a shoe; covering your foot, it’s missing another key element. Fashion lovers willing to risk wearing this design better be professional acrobats, because walking cannot be an easy feat.

10.Transperent Black Widow Shoe

I seriously dare you to wear this shoes. I look at them and I get disguasted. Transperency is  a trend this season though. So will you go for the look or comfort?

1. not a shoe ;-)
2. I want 'em
3. fugly
4. Make them for real and I'll buy them!
5. Like the pants, shoe part is too adolescent though
6. Good for desert wear :-P
7. Saw them already, old news.
8. Eye-catching but unattractive
9. Really?!?! Really!!
10. You can put the black widow in the clear heel but what you can't do is take the 'ho out of the black heel. In the words of Chris Rock:
"I'm gonna change my name to Cina Buns! ... and I'm gonna wear clear heels!" When did clear heels become the new whore uniform? When did that happen? Was there a big ho convention, and all the hos got together and said: "We need something new! Something that just says nasty" ... And one girl said: "I got it! Clear heels!" "Ew, girl, you're disgusting!"

thanks for this article! all of these shoes are absolutely wild...the ones that made me uneasy the most were those "five finger" shoes, mostly because i bet they will be available to the popular consumer...hope they won't be a new crocs. i think my favorite shoe would have to be the black widow shoe...talk about a-maz-ing. i wanna know if peta will complain too.
