A “Thread” above the Rest!

A new place has opened in Shanghai that knows all there is to know about women’s eyes and eyebrows.  They do treading, waxing, eyelash curling, eyelash extensions, eyelash tinting and any other waxing that you need to get done to your face.

I thought I would take one for the team and go and try them out, so then I could tell the Dolls how good or bad they are.  Well I was lucky that they turned out to be good and I was very happy with the results.  One of the good things about this place at the moment is that they are new so you don’t need to worry about getting an appointment, which is the reason why my eyebrows were slowly taking over my face!  I tried various times to get appointments at some of the other reputable places around town and they are always booked out or never get back to me.

Browhaus is the neighbour of Striped a waxing place that apparently is very good, although I have not tried them so I can’t make too many comments about them.  I walked into Browhaus on a Saturday and was greeted by friendly staff with a mixture of both Chinese and English.  I decided to get treading with a new shape to my eyebrows and get some fake eyelashes put on, because my real ones are so short.  I have always wondered about getting eyelashes put on and how they would do this and also how long they would last.

The shop has an option of chairs that are in the main room, which means if you are the type of person who doesn’t want people to see you get beauty treatments done you won’t be happy with this option and then they have another option of private rooms.  I was taken into a private room and had my treading first and for those who have never had this done it is a more gentle way of shaping your eyebrows achieving a better shape, because they are pulling single hairs at a time.  This technique is not only better for the shape of your eyebrows and the pain factor it is also better for your skin, because it is concentrated on the hairs rather than having the hot wax ripping off your skin, which all equates to you being able to walk out of the shop with your head held high instead of wearing sunglasses that cover most of your face so the red is covered.

The shape that I ended up with was great and I feel much better about the look of my eyebrows now.  After they finished doing the threading I got the eyelashes put on.  It is hard for me to explain the process here, because you obviously have your eyes closed the whole time, but I will say this it is totally relaxing and I almost fell asleep!  The lashes look great and they last up to four weeks, depending on how much you rub your eyes.  Threading will set you back 80rmb and about 10 minutes of your time and extensions will be around 30 minutes and 250rmb.  They also have membership cards which will give you either 10% off or 20% off, depending on which one you choose.
