I think it would be pretty fair to say that most of us have something about our bodies that we don’t like. Perhaps we think our bottom is too round or too flat, our boobs too big or too small. When it comes to dressing, it is not your size that is important, it is your shape. By knowing what your shape is and how to dress it, you can flaunt the bits that you love and hide the bits you don’t. Summer is coming and we all want to look our best and so many of us are hitting the gyms or trying a new diet. The thing to remember is, even when we loose weight our body shape stays the same, it will just be a slimmer version of our former selves. Our body shape depends on what our mamas and papas gave us in our genes and so no amount of dieting or exercising will reward you with an hourglass figure if you didn’t have one before.
Although all of us have a slightly different and unique body shape they can still be broken down into 5 main groups. These are, the hourglass, pear or triangle, inverted triangle, round (apple) and rectangle. Each group also has a slender or fuller category, for example you could be a slender hourglass or a fuller hourglass.
The effect that we should be trying to achieve with our dressing is balance. The human eye has been programmed to look for balance and harmony. When it sees something that is balanced it sends a message back to the brain which registers the object as being beautiful or attractive. Consquently the hourglass figure (think Marilyn Monroe, Megan Fox, Halle Berry) is considered to be the most beautiful because the shoulders are balanced with the hips and in the middle is this lovely little waist. In reality most ladies do not have an hourglass figure and in most western countries the Triangle or Pear is the most common body shape. If your body shape is not the same as Megan Fox’s, don’t worry, how to create the illusion of an hourglass figure is the basis of the Dolls workshop “Dress For Your Body Shape” (check it out on Events page). In the workshop you will learn what styles and cuts of clothes to wear to create balance. For example, if you are a Pear Shape I will show you how to add emphasis to your top half so that your shoulders and hips are balanced. By simply wearing the right type of top you will have created the illusion on an hourglass figure. By knowing how to dress for your shape you will feel more confident, happier and perhaps even a little sexier. Watch out Megan Fox, here come the Shanghai Dolls!
So that you can register for the correct workshop you need to work out what body shape you have. This is not hard to do, just look at the main characteristics of each shape. If you think you might be a combination of two or more groups look at your overall shape in the mirror and go with what is the most prominent. After that if you are still not sure, ask a friend.

I did some research on the subject and found out that all websites I visited talk about Bust measurement. More than that you have to wear well fitted bra when you measure your bust and make sure to exhale before you measure. For the reference:

Yes, if you like, you can bring some clothes that aren't "quite right". As a group we can check the style and fit to see if they suit your body shape. Perhaps you might just have to make something shorter or longer for it to be "right". Of course you don't have to but sometimes you will have soemthing that you are not sure what is wrong with it. It could just be the colour or the fit. K
Looking forward to the workshop!
btw are we supposed to bring certain clothes (we like) to it?
With those measurements I would put you in the hourglass group. Most people don't fit exactly into a category, afterall we are all individuals with different genes from our mamas. You might feel boxy but perhaps this is the clothes that you are wearing. Your waist (by my calculations) is more than 25% different and so lovely you are an Hourglass :). Join up for the hourglass workshop and start chanelling your inner Goddess. Kylie
so i'm sitll a bit uncertain ...
what am i?
my measurements are: 93/68/93
is that a rectangle? (i feel quite "boxy". i'm 163cm and have strong tighs and calves. boobs are normal i would say. belly more or less flat.
not that easy to put yourself in a category ...
looking forward to your opinion!
Anyway I'll stick to the measurment, cos if I should follow my visual perception of myself I'd go crazy! It changes with my mood continuously!!
