This 2009 Argentinean film won this year Oscar award for Best Foreign Picture. The movie is set in 1999 when a retired Argentinean federal justice agent is about to write a novel about one of his old closed murder cases that happened more than 20 years ago. His reason behind writing this novel is not necessary ‘historical’ accuracy but mainly trying to find closure about this case that shook him to the core and changed his life forever.

The story is told as a flashback showing the murder case and the following events that happened in the early 70’s. This movie is not only is a very good drama/ detective film with a small romantic story among the main characters, but in addition shows in a light way some of the events that happened during the infamous 70’s in Argentina during the ‘Dictadura Militar’ (Militar Dictatorship) right after General Peron fled the country and his second wife ‘Isabel’ (AKA ‘Isabelita’ Peron) became President of the country (don’t confuse her with Evita – Don’t cry for me Argentina, who was General Peron’s first wife and died of cancer at age 33) . She was never President rather than beloved/ hated first lady.

Directed by Juan Jose Campanella - who also co-wrote the story - this film has a couple of the finest actors of my home country.

I couldn't resist to share the theatrical trailer of Sex and the City 2 which is supposed to hit the cinemas in May 2010. Like with all sequels, “SATC 2″ has certainly upped the action! But when it comes to Carrie and the girls, that doesn’t mean more explosions, it means crazier fashion and a trip to Abu Dhabi. And Camels! OK, so the plot is borderline ridiculous. But do we really care?  It's also not surprising that "The Empire State of Mind" by Alycia Keys and JayZ was chosen as a soundtrack to this movie.

Sex and the City 2 promises a jewel-encrusted extravaganza to rival this summer's catwalk-approved minimalism. Jewels are basically everywhere and it's no wonder, because Swarovski has partnered with "SATC 2" on jewelry and accessories. Carrie's closet is bedecked with a crystal chandelier, the characters wear crystal studded minaudieres and Kim Catrall and Miley Cyrus, who makes a cameo, stand in front of a Swarovski logo-ed "step and repeat" at an event that takes place in the movie.

Living in China is like living Captain Jack Sparrow’s life. What, with all the pirated stuff, from “Lolex” watches to Gucci and LV handbags, China is a paradise of fake goods. The most popular pirated products that residents, both locals and foreigns, patronize is probably DVD movies. They are available at almost every street corner, with prices ranging from RMB 5 to RMB 10 ($ 0.75 to $ 1.5). Way cheap! Those with [better] quality and from legal-looking shops cost about twice as much. Still cheap for owning a copy when renting a movie normally costs the same.Being a communications graduate with a minor in film, I know that pirating really hurts the business (but I won’t go into that politics), but I, too, being a movie buff, have succumbed into patronizing the illegal stuff. I bought loads of DVDs, and while some were my favorites, others were plain movies to watch to pass time.

As children, we loved escaping down the long rabbit hole of Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland and falling into a whimsical fairytale full of possibilities. And as adults, we are still in love with the peculiar characters that overtake our dreams.Today Tim Burton's 3-D film Alice in Wonderland hits Shanghai cinemas. One thing about the movie that everyone is talking about is the fashion. Last weekend, I saw a sneak peek of the new Alice in Wonderland and I loved it! Especially the cool fashion and outrageous makeup. Thanks to Tim Burton Alice mania is in full force.  Today I want to bring  you Alice-inspired jewelry and beauty products. in my next post I will cover some Alice like fashion trends.Movie-related merchandise is usually more scary than stylish, but Disney has upped the ante by asking the jeweler Tom Binns to create special designs inspired by Alice in Wonderland. Each one is based on an event or character, including the Mad Hatter (played by Johnny Depp), the White Queen (Anne Hathaway) and Binns’s favorite, the evil Red Queen (Helena Bonham Carter).
