Trust and service is essential when it comes to getting your manicure and pedicure, more so when you’re waxing your eyebrows or if you decide to get a Brazilian. After reading many rave reviews about Chu and Jack of American Style Nail Salon on the site, I’ve been going to them for my pedicures and eyebrow waxing and was always satisfied with their service and the quality of their work. With their licenses from New York to do waxing and nails displayed, Chu and Jack have over 10 years experience under their belts and really genuinely enjoy what they are doing! Chu also says she gets all her products from the U.S. as she feels responsible for what she uses on her customers especially when it comes to wax. Also, their prices have also been so reasonable. Although their previous location was a little difficult to find and not so accessible via metro, I always went out of my way to go to them for these reasons. Good news though is they have moved! They are now more accessible on Dapu lu right across from the Dapuqiao metro station on line 9 near exit two! I discovered this when I worked up the courage to get a Brazilian here in Shanghai. It’s only been my second time getting this done and I was quite apprehensive since my pain tolerance is quite low! Chu was great though as she works quickly but also gives you time to breath and recover if she sees you need it. Needless to say, I didn’t cry or tear up this time around! Haha. As usual, my eyebrows and pedicure was done very well and with the free Shanghai Dolls Paraffin for my heel. I think their new place is great because even though it is smaller, its easy to find and warmer inside. Compared to the old place, the waxing area feels more private as it is a room and not open like the upper level of their loft before. For Brazilian, eyebrow wax and a pedicure I only spent 314 RMB which I think is very reasonable. Also, they gave me green tea while getting my pedicure done and also I was able to surf the internet on my phone since there is WIFI access in the building. If you have been apprehensive about who will take care of you when it comes to waxing or your nail care, I highly recommend giving them a try. You really feel they care about you and want to build long term relationships with their clients and do not pressure you to spend on other services. They are definitely a rarity and a treasure of the bare essentials when it comes to quality and service in Shanghai. I found a facial place that is really good and definitely worth a visit! They do extraction (not many places in Shanghai do that) and they also can do things like Microdermabrasion. They have treatments for both men and women. This is a new spa and is a totally different concept to your normal Spa’s - the design is very modern and it has different functions like being able to listen to your own music while receiving a treatment, etc. They have very good deals on at the moment, because of being new. Their memberships also have another great benefit, which I haven’t found at any other places in Shanghai and that is that you can go in with one or two friends instead of having to pay for the whole thing yourself! With a membership Connie said facials will range from 140 – 400rmb and massages start from 75rmb! Definitely not a bad deal for a western style Spa in Shanghai. |
